How To Avoid Your Website Being Canned In The Google Supplemental Results

| Search engine optimization also called SEO, is all about getting your web page ranked high on the search
engines and supplemental results are about the absolute worst thing that could happen to
your website listing. Google has two indices that they use to index web pages - the Main
Index and the Supplemental Index. |
| The difference between the two is that when someone searches for something on Google,
the main index web pages will all get listed before the supplemental web pages. This
means that even if you have pulled off perfect optimization on a web page appearing
in Google supplemental results there is no way you will be able to get it anywhere
close to the top of the search engine results. |
| There are three main reasons why a page is placed into the Google supplemental results
and all three of these mistakes are made by search engine optimizers. Firstly, if your
site has a lot of duplicate content on it then it will be a potential candidate for
getting sent into the supplemental results index. |
| Secondly, if your site contains unethical on-page SEO code it will also get sent to the
supplemental index. This is done in order to combat the unethical black hat SEO agents
that to a large extent, are responsible for making things worse for everyone trying
to do search engine optimization. |
| Lastly, if your site is linked to a lot of link farms, it also might end up in the
Google supplemental results. |
| There isn’t much you can do once the website has been placed into the supplemental results
simply because Google takes such a long time to do anything nowadays. All you can do is
correct all the problems mentioned above, submit a site map to Google and hope that the
situation gets resolved. |
| If it doesn’t, you might need to start fresh with a new URL and transfer your new and
improved website to that URL. |
